About the Collection

The Thirteenth Hour began with a piece of wood from my dad that my husband turned into a broom handle for me. That simple piece of wood got me thinking about the threads that connect us to people, memories, and moments that shape our lives. Inspired by the folklore of the red thread of fate and the symbolism of witchcraft, this collection brings together thirteen individually handcrafted brooms, each with its own story.

From protection and remembrance to transformation, fate, and new beginnings, every broom represents a different thread connecting us to the things that matter.

Each broom is made by hand with natural broomcorn, unique handles, and carefully chosen twine and weaving. No two are exactly alike, and each carries its own meaning.

Sometimes a little ritual helps us name what we already feel.

--- The Thirteen Brooms

**1. Blackthorn** A natural sweeper woven with black twine that climbs onto its smooth handle. Inspired by thorn-covered hedges, Blackthorn represents protection, boundaries, and the strength to guard what matters. measures 56" tall and has a sweeper of 15"

**2. Kindred**  A short-handled natural broom with black twine. Its handle was turned by my husband from wood I had from my dad, making this broom a personal reminder of family, connection, and the things we carry forward.  measures 25" tall with an 11" wide sweep

**3. Bloodroot**  A short-handled broom with black and red broomcorn, featuring another handle turned from my dad's wood. Red represents life and love, while black honors the shadows and absences that remain. Bloodroot is about remembrance and enduring love.  measures 27" tall with a 7" wide sweep

**4. Cinder**  A long, black-handled round broom layered with natural, black, and red broomcorn. Cinder represents transformation, resilience, and the strength that remains after the fire.  measures 56" long with a full round sweep

**5. The Wayfarer**  A long round broom with natural broomcorn woven onto its handle. A reminder that every journey changes us, and sometimes the unexpected paths lead us exactly where we need to be.  measures 64" tall with a round sweep

**6. Bone & Ember**  A short, bone-handled round broom layered with natural, black, and red broomcorn. It represents change, acceptance, and the quiet courage it takes to begin again.  measures 21" long with a slim round sweep

**7. The Old Ways**  A deer rib broom woven with natural, black, and red broomcorn. Rooted in nature and traditional craft, it honors the old ways, the knowledge passed down, and the connections that endure.  measures 14" long with a curved sweep of 8" 

**8. Red Mourning**  A pliated turkey wing whisk made with natural broomcorn and red twine. Red Mourning honors love that remains even after loss, and the memories we carry close.  measures 16" tall with an 8" sweep

**9. The Veil**  A pliated turkey wing whisk made with natural broomcorn and black twine. A symbol of mystery, intuition, and the unseen threads that weave through our lives.  measures 19" long with an 8" sweep

**10. Scarlet Hex**  A red-and-black pliated turkey wing whisk representing intention and personal power. A reminder that while we cannot control every thread, we can choose what we do with the ones in our hands.  measures 14" tall with a 6" sweep

**11. The Unraveling**  A natural broomcorn whisk woven with black and red twine. It represents letting go, loosening our grip, and accepting that not every thread is meant to stay tied the way it began.  measures 13" long with a 6" sweep

**12. Tangle**  A natural broomcorn whisk with black and red twine and a woven top. Tangle represents unexpected connections, crossed paths, and the beautiful mess of fate.   measures 15" long with a 6" sweep

**13. The Last Thread**  A black sweeper woven with red and a rough natural handle. The Last Thread represents continuity, new beginnings, and paths still waiting to unfold. Not every ending means something is lost; sometimes it simply means the story is changing.  measuring 56" tall with a 13" sweep
